Elegant, fruity and beautifully mature, this Benriach bursts with crisp apple, strawberry and delicate rosewater, wrapped in creamy vanilla and sweet pastry. Pistachio, coconut and touches of Turkish delight bring a wonderfully unusual richness, while subtle herbs and minerality keep the sweetness fresh and balanced. Powerful yet graceful at cask strength, it finishes with lingering fruit, gentle nuttiness and a pleasantly mineral edge. A wonderfully distinctive old Speyside with plenty of personality.

Benriach 1999 21 Year Old Adelphi is Cask 799, a refill bourbon barrel bottled in 2020 with only 182 bottles produced. The first clearly verifiable secondary market result is £110 at Just Whisky in March 2021. That was already below its original retail positioning, and despite searching later auction archives we could not verify another sufficiently recent hammer price for this exact cask to calculate a defensible CAGR. That weak liquidity is worth noting, but the bottle itself has strong fundamentals: 1999 vintage, 21 years of maturation, only 182 bottles and an 88.48 Whiskybase rating. Our view: keep it sealed, but consider it a scarce long term collectible rather than a proven appreciating asset.
