Dark berries and stewed plum mingle with raisins, orange peel and honeyed malt, reflecting the influence of the refill sherry butt. Hazelnut and cocoa add a deeper dimension, while ginger and pepper bring a lively contrast to the sweeter fruit. Mature oak gradually comes forward towards the finish, leaving dried fruit, toasted nuts and gentle spice in a refined old Speyside.

Drink | Historical CAGR: Not established | Market outlook: Limited

Braeval 2000 21 Year Old Signatory is an appealing mature single cask from a distillery rarely seen as a standalone malt. Cask 6393 was distilled in February 2000 and bottled in 2021 after 21 years in a refill butt, yielding 591 bottles. It has appeared at Whisky Auctioneer, including a May 2023 sale, but accessible records do not expose enough verified hammer prices across different years to calculate a defensible CAGR. More importantly, comparable Braeval 2000 Signatory stock remains available today, including Cask 6392 at £202, suggesting scarcity has not yet developed strongly enough to drive collector competition. Our view: age and Signatory provenance make it desirable whisky, but Braeval's relatively modest collector following means we would drink it rather than hold it specifically for appreciation.
