Details

Rich, fruity and beautifully mature, this Bunnahabhain layers dark cherries, dried fruit and tropical sweetness with honey, caramel and roasted nuts. Tobacco, leather and warming spice bring a deeper savoury character, while the Marsala influence adds a luscious wine richness without overwhelming the spirit. Oily and full bodied, it finishes long with lingering dark fruit, gentle spice and dry oak, creating an elegant and wonderfully complex Islay dram.

Bunnahabhain 2001 Marsala Cask Finish is a 19 Year Old official distillery bottling created for Fèis Ìle 2021, with only 1,333 bottles produced. It launched at £199 and initially achieved £180 at Scotch Whisky Auctions in June 2021. A bottle sold for £150 in April 2025, followed by £140 at Scotch Whisky Auctions in June 2026. That movement from £180 to £140 equates to an indicative auction CAGR of approximately −5%, so historically it has lost value rather than appreciated. However, current retail stock is becoming scarce and sits around £260 to £350. Our view: despite disappointing historical returns, the 2001 vintage, 19 year age statement, festival provenance and unusual Marsala finish give it credible longer term collector appeal. We would keep it sealed, but expect gradual rather than dramatic appreciation.
