Dark cherries, raisins and baked plum lead into treacle, chocolate and toasted walnut, showing the depth of its sherry butt maturation. Orange peel brings a brighter note, while espresso, cinnamon and seasoned oak add a drier, spicier dimension. The finish settles into cocoa, dried fruit and roasted nuts, giving this Edradour a bold, traditional sherry cask character.

Edradour 2009 Natural Cask Strength Cask 397 is a 12 Year Old single sherry butt, distilled on 11 December 2009 and bottled on 14 February 2022 with only 653 bottles produced. It originally retailed around €125 to €130 and is now sold out at those retailers, while the only current Whiskybase listing is approximately €300. I searched specifically for Cask 397 across auction archives, but could not find enough verified hammer results for this exact cask to calculate a defensible CAGR. Comparable 2009 Natural Cask Strength Edradours have achieved around £130 to £160 at auction, showing healthy demand for the series. Our view: the combination of single sherry cask maturation, strong 87.78 Whiskybase rating, limited supply and Edradour’s following makes this worth keeping sealed, although Cask 397 still needs more auction history before we can call it a proven appreciating asset.
