Fettercairn 12 Year Old Pedro Ximénez Sherry Cask Edition brings together the distillery's vibrant tropical character with the rich sweetness of PX sherry. Ripe oranges, raisins and honey lead the way, followed by notes of vanilla, dark berries and gentle baking spices. The palate is smooth and rounded, with hints of chocolate, toasted nuts and soft oak adding depth before a warming finish of sweet spice and dried fruit. Rich without being overly heavy, it's a beautifully balanced dram for lovers of sherried Highland whisky.

Created as a travel retail exclusive, this one litre Fettercairn launched around £60 and initially had the appeal of being harder to find outside airports. That exclusivity has not translated into investment growth. An auction sale in 2022 achieved £52.50, while bottles can still be found internationally today for roughly €70 to €90. With neither a meaningful premium nor strong scarcity developing several years after release, the market has remained broadly flat. Our view: the travel retail story makes it a little more unusual than the standard Fettercairn 12, but there is currently little evidence collectors are willing to pay extra for it. This is one we would open and enjoy.
