Ripe prunes and caramel introduce a dark fruit sweetness, followed by vanilla and bittersweet chocolate. Toasted oak adds a mature, gently dry quality that keeps the richer flavours in balance, with subtle roasted notes developing underneath. Smooth and composed through the finish, it leaves cocoa, dark fruit and seasoned wood behind.

Flor de Caña 15 Year Old Eco is a sustainably produced Nicaraguan rum aged for 15 years in American white oak barrels and marketed as a limited edition. However, unlike genuinely scarce single cask releases, it remains widely available: current UK retail prices sit around £38 to £55, while Flor de Caña itself continues to sell the expression in the US for $48.99. Auction activity is extremely limited, although a two bottle lot sold in December 2023 for NZ$143.40 including premium. There is not enough repeat auction history for a meaningful CAGR, and continuing retail availability removes much of the scarcity argument. Our view: this is firmly one to drink. The sustainability story makes it distinctive, but there is currently little evidence of collector demand or secondary market appreciation.
