Glen Elgin 12 Year Old Laudale Batch 4 was bottled by Adelphi in 2020 as part of its Laudale series, using first fill Oloroso sherry casks and producing 1,446 bottles. It received strong enthusiast reviews, but the investment case is less convincing. The release originally retailed around £65 to £70, and remaining bottles have continued to appear around similar levels rather than developing a substantial scarcity premium. Auction trading for Batch 4 is particularly thin, and I cannot verify two sufficiently separated achieved prices for the exact batch to calculate a credible CAGR. Our view: the Glen Elgin provenance and sherry maturation make it an attractive whisky, but an outturn above 1,400 bottles and limited secondary market demand mean there is currently little reason to preserve it purely for financial appreciation.
