Details

Gentle and understated, this Glen Spey opens with crisp apple, pear and lemon alongside honeyed cereal and soft vanilla. Fresh herbs and cut grass lend a clean, slightly leafy character, while almond and subtle oak provide a drier counterpoint. The finish is delicate and malty, carrying citrus, orchard fruit and a faint nuttiness that captures the quietly charming style of this rarely seen Speyside distillery.

Drink | Historical CAGR: approximately −4% | Market outlook: Weak

Glen Spey 12 Year Old Flora & Fauna is unusual because it remains one of the very few official ways to experience Glen Spey, a distillery whose production is overwhelmingly destined for blends. However, rarity of distillery bottlings has not translated into investment performance. A verified Whisky.Auction sale achieved £45 in May 2019, followed by £30.50 at Just Whisky in November 2022, £30 at Whisky Hammer in November 2025 and £32.50 at Whisky Online Auctions the same month. Using £45 in 2019 and £32.50 in 2025 gives an indicative CAGR of approximately −5%, with recent results confirming little recovery. New bottles are also still readily available at around £53 to £62. Our view: interesting whisky, but the auction evidence clearly favours drinking rather than investing.
