Four decades of maturation have given this Glenlivet remarkable depth without stripping away its fruit. Ripe banana and pineapple meet chocolate orange, dried fruits and buttery toffee, followed by mint, tobacco and aromatic herbs. The oak feels seasoned rather than dominant, adding an antique dryness beneath the sweeter sherry notes. It closes slowly with dark fruit, cocoa and herbal freshness, a beautifully evolved old Speyside that still feels remarkably alive.

Glenlivet 1968 40 Year Old Adelphi is Cask 5252, distilled in 1968 and bottled in 2008 with an exceptionally small outturn of just 139 bottles. It is also one of the highest rated Adelphi releases we have assessed, scoring 91 points on Whiskybase, while the only currently tracked bottle is offered at €1,279. I searched specifically for Cask 5252 across auction databases, but could not find two publicly verifiable hammer prices from different years, so calculating CAGR would be misleading. That does not weaken the bottle itself: 40 year old Glenlivet, 1968 vintage, single cask provenance, only 139 bottles and extremely limited surviving availability put it firmly into serious collector territory. Our view: unquestionably one to keep sealed.
