Ripe cherries, apricots and figs lead the way, followed by dark chocolate, caramelised nuts and sweet tobacco. The Oloroso maturation gives the whisky a deep, jammy quality, complemented by seasoned oak and a savoury nuttiness that keeps the sweeter notes in check. The finish moves towards cocoa, dried fruit and walnut, giving this Hazelburn a darker, more indulgent side while retaining its distinctive Campbeltown personality.

Hazelburn 2006 15 Year Old Oloroso Cask Matured was distilled in December 2006 at Springbank and bottled in April 2022 after full maturation in fresh Oloroso sherry casks, with 9,000 bottles released. Unlike many bottles we have assessed, this one has substantial secondary market evidence, with almost 400 recorded transactions. Early 2022 auction results reached £170 to £180, before the market corrected, including £130 in November 2024. More recently the average UK secondary market value has recovered to around £145, with prices up approximately 11.5% over the latest 12 months. Since July 2022, the recorded annualised return is approximately +1.5%. Our view: historical growth has been modest, but Springbank provenance, limited Hazelburn production and renewed price momentum make this worth keeping sealed.
