Details

Tropical fruit and soft peat come together in an unusual contrast, with ripe mango, citrus and orchard fruit meeting wisps of smoke and toasted wood. Vanilla and gentle sweetness soften the earthier character, while pepper and subtle mineral notes add definition. The finish moves between fruit, dry smoke and oak, offering a fascinating glimpse of Kavalan’s vibrant house style through a distinctly smoky lens.

Kavalan Peaty Cask is one of the more unusual early Kavalan releases, using casks previously associated with peated Scotch whisky. Individual 70cl editions can be extremely scarce: examples bottled for La Maison du Whisky and Whisky Live Paris produced only 105 to 124 bottles. Auction evidence shows £90 equivalent for one 2007 vintage cask in January 2025, €140 for another in August 2025 and €110 for a 105 bottle example in March 2026. Longer term price evidence is fragmented between different casks, but indicates roughly low single digit annual appreciation rather than explosive growth. Our view: Invest, but speculatively. Tiny outturns, unusual peated cask maturation and early Kavalan provenance make the 70cl releases worth preserving, particularly the rarer casks below 150 bottles.
