Details

Decadent and intensely sherried, this Kavalan opens with damson jam, dried figs and raisins before revealing dark chocolate, caramel and walnut. Flashes of pineapple and citrus cut through the dense fruitcake sweetness, while aromatic herbs and seasoned wood add an intriguing drier dimension. The finish carries cocoa, sticky dark fruit and roasted nuts, making this a lavish Pedro Ximénez matured whisky with remarkable concentration.

Invest | Historical CAGR: approximately +4% | Market outlook: Positive

Kavalan Solist Pedro Ximénez is one of the more collectible Solist variants, but the individual cask remains important. For Cask PX110321027A, auction records show £180 and £270 in 2018, £165 in 2021, £350 in 2022 and £226 in March 2025. Using the more representative £180 result from 2018 and £226 in 2025 gives an indicative CAGR of approximately +3.3%, while the £350 peak demonstrates how strongly demand can move for particular bottles. Another 2016 PX cask, PX110304009A, achieved £360 in 2022 and €190 hammer in 2024, confirming that prices can be volatile between casks. Our view: Invest. PX sits among Kavalan's more desirable specialist sherry releases, and the combination of single cask production, finite supply and international collector recognition gives it stronger long term potential than standard Solist releases.
