Dark, smoky and wonderfully coastal, this Ledaig layers redcurrants, raspberries and dried fruit with chocolate orange and rich raisins. Ashy peat and tar bring a rugged intensity, while seaweed, tobacco and salty brine add that unmistakable maritime character. Richly textured and complex, it finishes long with lingering smoke, dark fruit and coastal salinity, balancing sherry sweetness with Ledaig’s wild, smoky personality.

Ledaig 18 Year Old Sherry Cask Finish is particularly interesting when looking at the earlier limited batches rather than the later standard presentation. Batch 3, released in 2016, achieved £68 at Just Whisky in November 2018 and £90 at Scotch Whisky Auctions in September 2019, while the wider 18 Year Old Sherry Finish reached £95 in 2023. Batch 2 then achieved an impressive £160 in July 2024. Using £68 in 2018 against roughly £160 for a comparable early batch in 2024 indicates annualised appreciation of around 15%, although allowing for differences between batches, we would use a more conservative approximately +10% range level CAGR. Our view: discontinued early batch status, mature peated Ledaig and increasingly strong collector interest make this worth keeping sealed.
