Penderyn Ex Palo Cortado Sherry is a wonderfully distinctive Welsh single malt, where rich sherry influence meets the distillery's bright, fruit driven spirit. Layers of dried apricots, orange peel and ripe orchard fruits are complemented by toasted almonds, creamy toffee and a touch of dark chocolate. The palate is silky and complex, with gentle spice and polished oak leading into a long, elegant finish with lingering nutty sweetness and subtle dryness. Rich, refined and beautifully balanced, it's a superb expression of one of the rarest sherry cask styles.

This is one of the more convincing small release stories we have looked at. The Whisky World exclusive came from a single Palo Cortado cask and produced just 100 bottles, making supply genuinely finite. It sold for £72.50 at auction in 2019, rose to £105 in 2024 and most recently achieved £130 in August 2026. That represents an overall increase of roughly 79% and an indicative CAGR of around 8.7%. Retail stock has effectively disappeared, so anyone wanting one now is increasingly reliant on the secondary market. Our view: tiny production, an unusual cask and a steadily rising auction record make this one worth keeping sealed.
