SMWS- Ales in a Meadow

Details

Fresh and pastoral in character, this Glenlossie mingles crisp orchard fruit and lemon zest with honeyed malt, vanilla and soft meadow flowers. A gentle ale like quality introduces cereal sweetness and a faint hoppy bitterness, while cut grass and herbs lend an outdoorsy freshness. The final impression brings citrus, barley and delicate spice, creating an engaging dram that neatly reflects its evocative name.

Drink | Historical CAGR: Not established | Market outlook: Limited

Ales in a Meadow is SMWS 46.113, a 13 Year Old Glenlossie distilled on 23 January 2008 and bottled in 2021 from a first fill ex bourbon barrel, with only 221 bottles produced. I checked specifically for completed auction results for Cask 46.113, but could not find two reliable achieved prices from which to calculate a genuine CAGR. The bottle has effectively disappeared from normal retail, while a specialist listing around £226 is sold out and should not be treated as market value. Our view: 221 bottles sounds compelling, but Glenlossie has relatively modest collector demand and there is no evidence yet that scarcity has translated into price appreciation. This is one we would drink rather than hold purely for investment.
