Packed with character, this Glen Spey opens with comforting notes of maple syrup, caramel and baked apples, followed by bright citrus, rhubarb and sweet vanilla. As it develops, hints of toasted oak, warming cinnamon and gentle spice bring depth, while a touch of honey and floral sweetness keeps everything beautifully balanced. Rich, creamy and full of personality, it finishes long with lingering orchard fruits, soft spice and a satisfying sweetness that makes every sip as inviting as the last.

Bootleg Saloon Breakfast is SMWS 80.28, a 9 Year Old Glen Spey released in 2021 with only 236 bottles from a single first fill bourbon hogshead. It originally sold for £48.40 and achieved £50 at auction in 2022, meaning virtually no appreciation from its release price. Five years later it has disappeared from normal retail, but there is still little evidence of collectors actively chasing it. That distinction matters: the bottle is unquestionably rare, but its market is also extremely thin. Our view: scarcity has not yet translated into demand, so this is a whisky we would be more tempted to open than preserve for a return.
