SMWS- Cream Tea at the Patisserie

Details

Bright, sweet and deliciously dessert like, this Glen Grant bursts with ripe apples, pear and zesty lemon alongside vanilla cream, buttery pastry and a dusting of icing sugar. Peach, melon and touches of strawberry emerge as it opens, while cinnamon, white pepper and gentle oak keep the sweetness in check. Lively at full strength and beautifully fruity with a little water, it finishes on biscuits, vanilla and lingering citrus.

Drink | Historical CAGR: Not established | Market outlook: Limited

Cream Tea at the Patisserie is SMWS 9.161, an 11 Year Old Glen Grant distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2019 from a second fill ex bourbon barrel, with only 228 bottles produced. Importantly, this was a special bottling for the 2019 Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, giving it more provenance than a standard SMWS release. However, that story has not translated into strong financial performance. A verified November 2025 auction achieved just £35, despite the bottle becoming increasingly difficult to find. Our view: the festival connection and tiny outturn make it interesting to collectors, but the latest market evidence is too weak to support an investment case. This is a rare bottle we would rather experience than preserve for financial return.
