Rich and beautifully rounded, this Benrinnes is packed with luscious dark fruits, dried figs and sweet raisins, all wrapped in layers of dark chocolate, roasted nuts and warming spice. A touch of orange zest and polished oak adds freshness, while the Oloroso cask brings a velvety texture and remarkable depth. The finish is long, warming and wonderfully balanced, leaving lingering notes of cocoa, sweet spice and dried fruit that invite another sip.

Perfectly Plump is SMWS 36.179, an 11 Year Old Benrinnes distilled in 2010 and released in 2021, with just 231 bottles produced. It spent nine years in ex bourbon wood before being transferred to a first fill Oloroso hogshead. The original UK price was £92.60, yet an August 2021 auction achieved only £66.20, roughly 29% below retail almost immediately. Today the bottle has disappeared from normal retail, although a private 2026 listing at €100 suggests little evidence of meaningful appreciation. Benrinnes has a loyal enthusiast following, but demand for this particular SMWS cask remains too thin to demonstrate an investment trend. Our view: scarce and interesting, but better enjoyed than stored for financial return.
