SMWS- Pub Grub

Unashamedly savoury and packed with smoky character, this unusual dram brings bonfire embers, briny sea air and charred wood together with crisp cider apple. Bacon, grilled shellfish and a touch of iodine give the palate a wonderfully meaty, maritime quality, while tar and earthy peat add further depth. It closes on wood ash, salty crisps and persistent smoke, creating a rugged whisky that wears its eccentric “Pub Grub” name perfectly.

Invest | Historical CAGR: Not established | Market outlook: Cautiously positive

Pub Grub is SMWS 42.69, a 14 Year Old Tobermory distilled on 29 March 2007 and bottled in 2021 from a refill ex bourbon hogshead, with only 235 bottles produced. Whiskybase rates it a strong 88.14 and currently records no retail stock. I also found actual auction appearances, including Whisky Hammer in July 2023 and Whisky Auctioneer in January 2026, but their accessible records do not expose both completed hammer prices, so calculating CAGR would mean guessing. Our view: this is more interesting than the average SMWS release. Mature Tobermory, a strong enthusiast score, only 235 bottles and repeated secondary market appearances give it credible collector potential, although the lack of transparent price history keeps the outlook cautious.
