SMWS "The Wee Orange Beastie" is an unapologetically bold bourbon, packed with vibrant citrus, rich vanilla and sweet caramel from the very first sip. Bright orange marmalade and warm baking spices are joined by charred oak, liquorice and a touch of smoky earthiness, creating a wonderfully intense yet balanced profile. Despite its youthful energy, the palate is remarkably rounded, finishing long with lingering spice, toasted oak and candied citrus. The Wee Orange Beastie is one of the more unusual SMWS releases, a four year old Rock Town bourbon from Arkansas with only 216 bottles produced. It launched in 2021 at £86, yet an auction sale later that year achieved just £60, already around 30% below its original price. Five years on, the bottle is sold out and rarely appears at auction, but scarcity has not developed into obvious collector demand. Our view: quirky, genuinely scarce and difficult to replace, but the market has yet to treat it as a collectible. Unless interest in early SMWS American whiskey grows significantly, this is one we would open rather than wait on.
