Mature, funky and unmistakably Springbank, this rare single cask opens with treacle, overripe banana and earthy dunnage, wrapped in gentle peat and a distinctly coastal minerality. Dark sherry richness sits underneath, while touches of pepper, old oak and savoury smoke give it wonderful depth. The finish is long and lingering, leaving salty, earthy notes and soft spice behind. A complex, old school Campbeltown dram with plenty of personality and that unmistakable Springbank funk.

Springbank 1998 22 Year Old Adelphi is an unusually compelling independent Springbank, distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2021 from refill sherry hogshead Cask 426. Just 239 bottles were produced, and the release sold out rapidly, with one retailer restricting access to its highest tier customers. The secondary market remains thin, but current indicators are encouraging: recent market data places it around £300, a September 2025 auction carried a £285 estimate, while a specialist retailer subsequently listed a bottle at £750, although that is an asking price rather than a sale. Our view: the combination of mature Springbank, 1998 vintage, Adelphi provenance and only 239 bottles gives this significantly stronger investment credentials than most independent bottlings. We would keep it sealed.
