Sherry takes a confident lead in this Teaninich, bringing dark fruit, marmalade and caramelised sweetness against the distillery’s naturally crisp character. Orchard fruit and citrus provide freshness, while toasted malt, gentle spice and a waxy touch add contrast. The finish becomes drier with fruit peel, oak and sherry soaked warmth, giving this Highland malt an appealing mix of richness and vibrancy.

Teaninich 2007 12 Year Old Adelphi Cask 301264 was bottled in 2020 from a first fill sherry cask, producing 615 bottles. It is highly regarded, with an 86.3 Whiskybase score, but the auction history is less convincing financially. Verified Just Whisky sales reached £130 and £126 in April 2020, before falling to £100 in May 2020 and remaining at £100 in April 2021. More recently, Whisky Auctioneer listed this exact cask again with a £55 current bid, although we cannot treat an unfinished auction as an achieved price. Using the comparable £130 and £100 completed sales gives an indicative annualised decline of roughly 5% over that first year. Our view: excellent whisky and increasingly difficult to find, but Teaninich lacks the collector demand needed to make the 615 bottle outturn particularly compelling. We would drink it rather than hold it purely for appreciation.
