Details

Rich, sherried and wonderfully old fashioned, this Blair Athol combines dried apricot, orange peel and treacle toffee with earthy malt and roasted nuts. Hints of herbs and menthol bring unexpected freshness, while tobacco, coffee and gentle wood smoke add a darker complexity. Creamy yet pleasantly dry, it finishes with lingering spice, earthy sweetness and a subtle herbal edge, giving this classic Highland malt plenty of depth and personality.

Drink | Historical CAGR: approximately −1% | Market outlook: Limited

Blair Athol 12 Year Old Flora & Fauna is very different from the discontinued bottles in the series such as Clynelish or Glen Elgin. It remains an active Flora & Fauna release and is readily available in the UK, generally around £55 to £65. Secondary market results have shown little meaningful appreciation, with older auction sales around £60 to £70 and recent bottles continuing to trade around similar levels, often below current retail once auction costs are considered. This gives an indicative long term CAGR around −1%, effectively a flat market in nominal terms. Blair Athol itself has a strong following, but continuing production prevents the scarcity collectors typically need. Our view: unless you have an older first generation or wooden box presentation, this is one to open and enjoy rather than keep for investment.
