Details

Blair Athol 12 Year Old Flora & Fauna is a richly rewarding Highland single malt with a distinctive sherried character. Notes of toffee, dried apricots and orange peel are joined by roasted nuts, gentle spice and a touch of earthy tobacco, creating a beautifully layered and complex dram. The creamy palate is balanced by subtle oak and a hint of dark chocolate, leading into a long, warming finish with lingering sweetness and soft spice. A classic expression that quietly impresses with its depth and character.

Drink | Historical CAGR: approximately −1% | Market outlook: Limited

Blair Athol 12 has been part of the Flora & Fauna story since the early 1990s, but unlike many discontinued bottles from the series, the standard release remains readily available today at around £55 to £65. A standard bottle sold for £65 at auction in 2015, compared with current retail prices around the same level, meaning there has effectively been little real growth over more than a decade. The intriguing exception is the original boxed first release, now offered around £399, showing that presentation and generation matter enormously here. Our view: drink the current release, but keep an eye on early presentations, where the real collector potential lies.
