Tangy orange and dark chocolate open the way, followed by sultanas and tart cranberry with a subtle flinty edge underneath. Mocha adds a roasted depth, while clove and festive spices bring warmth without overpowering the fruit. The finish holds onto chocolate and aromatic spice, giving this Blair Athol an appealing mix of sherry sweetness, darker flavours and mineral character.

Drink | Historical CAGR: approximately −29% | Market outlook: Weak

Blair Athol 2008 12 Year Old Adelphi is Cask 311135, a first fill Pedro Ximénez sherry cask bottled in 2021 with only 301 bottles produced. This one has a useful auction trail. Whisky Online Auctions recorded £120 in February 2023, followed by £55 in March, £60 in April and £60 again in July 2023. Taking £120 to £60 over roughly five months produces an annualised figure that is misleadingly extreme, so using the broader available market evidence gives an indicative CAGR around −29% rather than extrapolating that short collapse. More importantly, the exact bottle is currently available at £100 retail, so genuine scarcity has not developed. Our view: despite the tiny outturn and attractive PX maturation, the secondary market has shown weak demand. This is one to drink rather than preserve for investment.
