Details

Deep and mature with plenty of classic bourbon character, this Calumet Farm opens with dark cherry, caramel and brown sugar before moving into dark chocolate, cinnamon and seasoned oak. Tobacco and toasted nuts give the palate a drier, more sophisticated edge, while vanilla and dark fruit soften the influence of its long maturation. The finish is persistent and oak driven, leaving cherry, cocoa and baking spice behind. A serious, richly developed bourbon for those who enjoy the complexity that comes with age.

Drink | Historical CAGR: approximately −7% | Market outlook: Weak

Calumet Farm 16 Year Old Single Rack Black Citation was introduced in 2022 at around $150 and is a 19 barrel batch of mature Kentucky bourbon distilled and aged in Bardstown. Unlike many genuinely scarce collector bourbons, it remains available in the US at around $160 today. More importantly, the auction market has failed to develop a premium. A UK Whisky Hammer sale reached £160 in March 2024 and £170 in January 2025, while US auction results include $132 in 2025 and approximately $110 per bottle in April 2026. Using the original $150 price and the recent $110 secondary value gives an indicative CAGR of roughly −7%. Our view: impressive age and strong drinking credentials, but continued availability and weak resale performance make this one to open rather than hold for appreciation.
