Vanilla and dark chocolate set a smooth, indulgent tone, followed by roasted nuts and gently toasted oak. Caramelised sweetness develops alongside cocoa and aromatic spice, while a subtle dryness keeps the richer flavours composed. The finish carries chocolate, nuts and seasoned wood, giving this mature Nicaraguan rum an elegant and polished character.

Flor de Caña 18 Year Old Centenario Gold has a much clearer auction history than many of the rare whiskies we have assessed. UK results include £50 in 2019, £60 in 2020 and £55 in 2022, before falling to £40 in 2024 and £35 at Whisky Hammer in November 2025. Using the £50 result in 2019 against £35 in 2025 gives an indicative CAGR of roughly −6%, although broader results suggest a less severe decline, so around −2% is a more representative long term indication. Importantly, this remains a widely distributed premium rum rather than a discontinued collector release. Our view: there is little evidence of sustained appreciation or scarcity, so this is firmly one to drink rather than preserve for investment.
