Mature oak and dark caramel lead into baked cherry, vanilla and toasted nuts, with hints of leather and tobacco adding a deeper savoury character. Cinnamon and cocoa emerge as it develops, accompanied by the mellow sweetness of aged Tennessee whisky. The finish leans towards charred wood, toffee and spice, giving this long matured single barrel a robust, distinctly American character.

Drink | Historical CAGR: approximately −11% | Market outlook: Weak

George Dickel 15 Year Old Single Barrel is unusual because every bottle comes from an individual barrel, so strength and bottle count vary. For the standard release, the secondary market has weakened substantially. A 50.4% example from a barrel yielding only 237 bottles achieved £80 at Whisky Hammer in July 2021, while a comparable 15 Year Old sold for just €36 hammer, roughly £30, at Fine Spirits Auction in June 2024. That movement equates to an indicative CAGR of roughly −27%, although differences between barrels make that too aggressive as a range wide measure. Using broader auction evidence, we would use approximately −11% as a more representative indication. Current UK retail is still around £94, further highlighting the gap between retail and resale value. Our view: impressive age for the money, but continuing availability and weak auction demand make this much more compelling to drink than preserve.
