Rich and beautifully layered, this Glen Elgin combines figs, raisins and dark cherries with fresh orange, honey and caramel fudge. Tobacco and gentle oak bring a deeper savoury character, while black pepper, cinnamon and nutmeg add warmth and complexity. Full bodied yet nicely balanced, it finishes long with lingering dried fruit, citrus and sweet spice, making this a wonderfully expressive Glen Elgin with plenty of sherried richness.

Invest | Historical CAGR: Not established | Market outlook: Cautiously positive

Glen Elgin 2006 14 Year Old Adelphi is the Laudale Batch 4 release, bottled in 2020 after maturation in first fill Oloroso sherry casks, with 1,446 bottles produced. Unlike Adelphi’s tiny single casks, the larger outturn reduces its scarcity, but the combination of mature Glen Elgin, heavy sherry maturation and the limited Laudale series gives it some collector appeal. I checked for completed auction results rather than relying on retailer prices, but there are not enough clearly attributable transactions for Batch 4 to calculate a defensible CAGR. Remaining bottles have become increasingly difficult to find, although that has not yet translated into a well established secondary market. Our view: worth keeping sealed if already owned, but expect gradual rather than dramatic appreciation. This is a niche Adelphi collectible rather than a proven high growth bottle.
