Beautifully mature and full of character, this Glenturret combines ripe orchard fruit and bright citrus with honey, vanilla and a distinctive waxy richness. Herbal notes, gentle pepper and old oak bring a more savoury complexity, while touches of tropical fruit emerge as it opens in the glass. Oily and wonderfully expressive, it finishes long with lingering fruit, warming spice and elegant oak, offering the depth and complexity that only extended maturation can bring.

Glenturret 1988 25 Year Old Adelphi is Cask 522, matured in a refill bourbon cask and bottled in 2014 with only 248 bottles produced. It is a particularly well regarded release, scoring 89.16 on Whiskybase from 93 ratings, and it has now completely disappeared from normal retail. The original retail price was around £147. I checked the auction trail specifically for Cask 522, including Whisky Auctioneer and the major UK auction archives, but while the bottle has appeared at auction, I could not verify two publicly accessible achieved prices far enough apart to calculate a defensible CAGR. Our view: this is nevertheless a strong bottle to preserve. A 1988 vintage, 25 years of maturation, tiny single cask outturn, strong enthusiast reputation and increasingly scarce mature Glenturret stock give it genuine long term collector potential.
