Kavalan Single Malt is a vibrant and approachable Taiwanese whisky, celebrated for its wonderfully fresh, tropical character. Kavalan’s original Single Malt carries genuine historical importance as the whisky that introduced the Taiwanese distillery to the world in 2008. That significance, however, has not translated into strong collector demand. A bottle achieved £42.50 at UK auction in 2021, while current retail sits around £63 to £75, suggesting modest appreciation rather than an investment surge. More importantly, the expression remains readily available and continues to be produced, removing the scarcity that drives prices for Kavalan’s rarer single casks. Our view: an important bottle in Kavalan’s story, but the real investment interest lies elsewhere in the range. This is one we would open.
