Jamaican funk meets sherry richness in this distinctive Monymusk, with banana bread, raisins and flamed orange peel giving way to toffee, cinnamon and clove. Pineapple adds a tropical flash, while green olive, toasted nuts and a touch of brine introduce a more savoury side. The finish shifts between caramelised banana, citrus and spice, creating a characterful old rum where the Oloroso influence complements rather than hides the spirit.

Monymusk 2003 14 Year Old Adelphi is a particularly unusual Adelphi release because this is Jamaican rum rather than whisky. Distilled at Clarendon in 2003 and bottled in 2018 as Cask JM2, it was continentally aged, finished in Oloroso sherry and limited to only 346 bottles. It originally retailed around £85 and has since disappeared from normal retail. I checked the auction trail specifically for JM2: Rum Auctioneer records appearances including February 2021 and again in May 2026, but the archived public pages hide the achieved hammer prices, preventing a defensible CAGR calculation. Our view: keep it sealed. Mature Clarendon rum, tiny supply, unusual sherry maturation and Adelphi's very limited rum output give this considerably stronger collector credentials than a typical independent release.
