Sweet, playful and packed with character, this Braeval brings together salted caramel, banana and orange marmalade with dark chocolate and toasted coconut. Cinnamon, ginger and pepper build as it opens, giving the rich sweetness a lively spicy edge, while hints of leather and toasted oak add depth. A splash of water reveals softer notes of banana loaf, stewed plums and gentle smoke, leading to a warming finish of citrus, ginger and sweet spice.

Drink | Historical CAGR: Not established | Market outlook: Limited

A Bit of a Bibelot is SMWS 113.53, an 11 Year Old Braeval distilled in January 2010 and bottled in 2021 from a first fill ex bourbon barrel, with just 169 bottles produced. It originally sold for £49 in the UK, while SMWS America later listed it at $125. Today it is largely absent from the market, although Whiskybase recently tracked one European offer around €72. Despite an unusually small outturn even by SMWS standards, we could not find enough verified auction sales to establish a meaningful price trend. Our view: scarcity is impressive, but Braeval lacks the collector demand needed to turn that rarity into a convincing investment case. This is one we would drink.
