Details

Don't let the name fool you, this is a vibrant and characterful Speyside single malt with plenty of depth. Juicy peach, ripe pear and sweet vanilla are lifted by citrus zest and floral honey, while subtle hints of toasted almonds, gentle oak and warming spice add balance and complexity. The rich, silky texture carries through to a long, elegant finish with lingering orchard fruits and soft pepper, creating a whisky that's both effortlessly approachable and wonderfully rewarding.

Drink | Historical CAGR: Not established | Market outlook: Limited

Carefree and Mellow is SMWS 7.273, a 14 Year Old Longmorn distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2021 from a single first fill bourbon barrel, yielding just 222 bottles. Despite that tiny outturn and Longmorn’s established reputation, the bottle has barely developed a visible auction market, making a credible CAGR impossible to establish. Even specialist international listings are scarce, with one asking around €254 but currently unavailable, which shows rarity without proving collector demand. Our view: scarce enough to be interesting, but not yet sought after enough to be an investment. Unless demand for individual SMWS Longmorn casks strengthens, we would enjoy what is inside rather than wait for the market to notice it.
