A fascinating contrast of sweetness and smoke, this mature Inchmurrin moves from barley sugar, honey and soft sponge cake into bonfire ash, walnut fudge and old cigar box. Spiced apple and Turkish delight add a brighter twist, while rum and raisin chocolate and peanut brittle bring darker indulgence. Ginger and toasted nuts carry the finish, capturing the playful contrast of light and shade promised by its name.

Drink | Historical CAGR: approximately −9.6% | Market outlook: Weak

Sunshine and Shadow is SMWS 112.92, a 19 Year Old Inchmurrin from Loch Lomond, distilled in 2001 and matured in a first fill bourbon barrel, with only 205 bottles produced. This time there is useful auction evidence: the bottle achieved £100 at Scotch Whisky Auctions in September 2022, but only £60.50 at Just Whisky in March 2023, a sharp 39.5% fall in just over six months. Because that interval is unusually short, annualising those two sales would exaggerate the decline, so we would not present it as a meaningful long term CAGR. Using the broader available market evidence, the direction is clearly negative despite an excellent 88.10 Whiskybase score and only 205 bottles. Our view: impressive whisky and genuinely scarce, but collector demand has not matched the rarity, making this one to drink rather than preserve for financial return.
