Youthful yet unmistakably Springbank, this release brings together ripe plum, dark berries and cinnamon with earthy malt, roasted corn and a delicate floral lift. Sherry sweetness meets the distillery’s characteristic coastal funk, while gentle peat, mineral notes and seasoned wood give the whisky an appealingly rugged edge. The finish turns savoury with dried fruit, spice and wisps of smoke, making this a spirited Campbeltown malt with far more complexity than its age might suggest.

Springbank 8 Year Old 2012 was bottled in January 2021 exclusively for Springbank Society members after eight years in fresh sherry hogsheads, with 1,830 bottles allocated by ballot. The auction trail is unusually useful: a bottle achieved £231 at Just Whisky in June 2021 and £210 at Scotch Whisky Auctions later that year, while the latest verified Just Whisky result was £180 in March 2026. That represents a decline of roughly 22% from the £231 early market price, equivalent to an indicative CAGR of about −5%. Despite that correction, our view remains Invest. Springbank Society exclusivity, sherry maturation, fixed supply and exceptionally strong demand for Springbank give it better long term fundamentals than the price trend alone suggests.
